There is no doubt that our planet is in a severe crisis with environmental pollution and global warming the obvious cause.
But for most of the people living in Asia the issue of global warming is not even of remote concern, let alone a huge problem that involves the massive heating of the world we all live in.
And yet it comes as no surprise that the world has just experienced ten of the hottest years.
When you look at the Asian countries - and see how they are burning more and more fuel and consuming vast amounts of natural resources - it's very obvious why the Earth is heating. Power stations in China are pouring out toxic soot resulting in acid rains. It's a big concern not just for China but for the entire world, and it's going to be extensively reported on by the media over the next five years.
Thailand is facing huge efficiency issues as the country has inefficiency with high fuel consumption caused by traffic jams, and there are major problems to overcome in regard to water supplies and electric power.
All countries throughout Southeast Asia have little to no regard for the carbon footprint. In Indonesia the annual burning of the top soil of the islands forests closes down and chokes Singapore and Malaysia with thick haze.
The local newspapers give little attention to environmental issues and are far more concerned with writing about local business in their own country.
Fortunately for Thailand, the country has a much respected King who leads from his own example to show his people the value of economic sufficiency - a way of life that's in harmony with the natural sustainability of the environment.
The King's personal interest in environmental issues is inspired leadership. He has taken up the big environmental issues of the world today and his people listen and try to follow what he says.
