Jannik Sinner’s achievements
The 23-year-old star, Jannik Sinner won the US Open with an 11-match win streak, who secured victory in the Australian Open in January this year. He has made it to the list where Flavia Pennetta won the women’s singles championship in 2015, both of them becoming the only Italians to have marked their names in the said championships.
Sinner said, “This title for me means so much because the last period of my career was really not easy. There is my team who supports me every day, the people who are close to me. I love tennis. I practice a lot for this kind of stage, but I also realize that off the court there is a life”.
The tennis champion dedicated his title to his aunt because he told that she was not feeling well. He was scared to lose as she was dear to him and wanted to spend more time with her. He was not sure how much more time of life he could be with her but wanted to dedicate his title to her as an effort to share positive moments.
The reason Jannik Sinner won the US Open and dedicated to his aunt
Sinner explained the importance of his aunt in his life. Jannik Sinner won the US Open 2024 with all her support as he elucidated that whenever his parents were busy working every day, he had to go for ski races for which his aunt was always there to take him. Sinner revealed that during the summertime, his aunt made sure that he could enjoy his free days whenever his parents were working hard.
Further, she was the one who used to hang around with him whenever he was not practicing. He admitted that she remains an important person in his life.
Sinner couldn’t enjoy time with his loved ones
Sinner narrated some of the times when he felt that he had lost his way. He said that he used to see things differently and “things happen unfortunately but the real life is something different”, he confessed.
The US Open star disclosed that he had to travel a lot and with that, it became difficult to spend time with his dear ones. He knew that one has to accept life as it is and that “everything is not perfect”.
Taylor Fritz disappointed but hopeful for the future
On the other hand, Taylor Fritz, who stands in 12th position in the world ranking, was disappointed that he couldn’t make it but still held the acknowledgment that after Roddick, he was the first American to reach the grand slam singles final since 2009. Roddick was a runner-up against Roger Federer in 2009’s Wimbledon.
The best result Fritz, the 26-year-old player, was able to show was when he reached the quarter-finals with 0-4 at that time. Fritz said, “Being an American, at the US Open, it’s just incredible feeling the love all week”.
He thanked the crowd for being supportive and cheerful throughout his game as he wants to be the next champion for the same title. He said he was sorry that he couldn’t do it this time but he vows to keep working hard and “hopefully get it the next time”.
