Venice Film Festival
The 81st Venice Film Festival welcomes “Joker: Folie à Deux” for premiers on Wednesday evening. The film star Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix would be present at the event.

The film is presented by Todd Phillips, and is one of the most hyped movies nowadays. It remains among the top anticipated movies at the Venice Film Festival for its first premiers.
“Joker” which won the last Golden Lion was a masterpiece filmed five years ago. Warner Bros selected a distinct film promotional strategy for its upcoming dark comic book film, for which a glitzy festival treatment is undertaken.
The stars: Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga
Joaquin Phoenix won the Best Actor award for his performance in 2020’s Joker movie. Alongside, Lady Gaga won the Best Original Song award for “Shallow” in 2018. Further, she was nominated for the Best Actress category in the same year for her performance in ‘A Star is Born’, though this was won by Olivia Colman later.
Joker: Folie à Deux is about Phoenix’s character, Arthur Fleck, who is institutionalized at Arkham and is waiting for his trial for the crimes he committed. Later, he meets the lead lady, Harley Quinn.
The director: Todd Phillips
Todd Phillips said, “We knew we had to swing for the fences; we wanted to create something as crazy and fearless as Joker himself. So Scott Silver and I wrote a script that delved further into the idea of identity. Who is Arthur Fleck? And where does the music inside him come from?”
After the release of this director’s statement, a clear idea of the movie is revealed as to what the audience should expect.
The current Joker film sequel is competing for several main prizes of the festival like a twenty-minute ovation that ‘The Room Next Door’ received, a special jury-prize, Grand jury prize, Golden Osella, Marcello Mastroianni award, special Lion, Golden Lion and Silver lion.
The Venice Film Festival
Four members of the Venice Film Festival jury have the responsibility to judge the entries. Awards will be presented on 7 September, on the final day of the festival.
The 81st Venice Film Festival is organized by La Biennale di Venezia. It started on 28 August 2024 and will continue till 7 September 2024. The festival is authorized by the FIAPF (International Federation of Film Producers Association).
Other guests at the premier would be Angelina Jolie, George Clooney, and Brad Pitt. Among the big names, Joker the movie, Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix have to shine brighter, for which the stars at the film festival team are already excited.
The celebration takes place every year with the aim of raising awareness and promoting international cinema and its supremacy from all directions, cultures, and genres. The spirit of freedom in the entertainment industry is hailed by the stars of the world to enhance the restoration of classic films as well as to understand future cinema better.
Lady Gaga arrives
The actress arrived in a polka-dot dress last night for the movie premiere at the festival. Her dress was by La Roxx. Venice is seen in all dots of every shape this year, and that is why Lady Gaga followed the trend.
The leading lady was thrilled and said that the movie is full of music, dance, and drama, although it would be “courtroom drama” but has various happy and sad moments. The movie would give a massive human touch and emotional connection to the audience that would surely resonate with the audience, she was confident.
She added, “It’s a testament to [Phillips] as a director, that he would rather be creative than just tell a traditional story of love”.
The film is expected to be released in October.
